Race Beneficiary

The Himalayan Youth Foundation (HYF) was created to provide assistance and general care to the underprivileged and/or orphaned children of the Himalayas, ultimately helping the region and the world become as stable and as prosperous as possible. HYF’s primary objective is to provide indigent children a clean, caring environment with conditions conducive to learning; giving them the skills necessary to participate in the development of their country and to support them in the preservation of their native culture. For more information about The Himalayan Youth Foundation, please visit: www.hyf-us.org/help.htm

The Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) has supported conservation assessments in the Himalayas, a region renowned for its unspoiled beauty and pristine wilderness. In 2005, as part of the scientific exploration of the region, leading up to the opening of Expedition Everest™ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, the DWCF, in collaboration with Conservation International (CI), taught scientists and university students in Nepal the important research techniques needed to aid in plant and animal identification. This effort helped researchers form a strong partnership with local communities through communication and education. Advancing local scientific knowledge will provide the foundation for ongoing information sharing that will influence area decision makers to take action to preserve Himalayan wildlife. Since its inception in 1995, the DWCF has awarded more than $12 million to 750 projects in 110 countries to help to support the important work of both local and global nonprofit organizations to positively impact wildlife, ecosystems, and the communities so closely linked to their survival.
