With an average temperature that registers in the 70's in February, Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex is the perfect place to jumpstart your season in a President's Day Weekend tournament!

Your entry into into Disney's President's Day Fastpitch Open includes:

A Fastpitch Softball Sales Manager will review all applications and notify your team of its status as soon as possible.

Upon acceptance into the tournament, your team entry fee must be paid in full immediately to guarantee your spot. Entry fees are non-refundable. In the event your team must withdraw from the tournament, you must notify the tournament director in writing at least 30 days prior to the tournament date and you will be allowed to transfer your entry fee to a future event.

Waivers MUST be completed by all athletes/coaches and faxed to 407-938-3412. In order to be on the field of play in this event, all athletes and coaches are required to complete a waiver form. Please follow the following process:

  • Before distributing these forms, the coach should print the Team/School Name & Division in the "Event Information" section on the form.
  • Photocopy the number of forms you require.
  • There is no limit to the number of athletes and coaches you wish to bring, but all are required to purchase a participant package.
  • All minors (under age 18) must have a parent or legal guardian sign the "Release and Indemnity: section.
  • The Coach is responsible for photocopying, distributing, collecting, and returning all waivers.

Q. What do I need to do to reserve my team's spot in the tournament?
A. All teams must submit an application and $425 team entry fee to reserve their team's spot in the tournament. Register your team early. Space is limited and acceptance to any event is based upon availability.
   
Q. Can I pay the entry fee by check?
A. Yes! Teams can pay by check by choosing to have an invoice mailed to them when they register online. All Checks should be made payable to Disney Destinations and mailed to the following address:

Q. What rules do you play by for this tournament?
A. Disney Fastpitch Rules will be used for this tournament. They are based off of the 2010 ASA Rule Book. To obtain a complete copy of ASA rules, please visit www.softball.org.
   
Q. Does my team need to be ASA Sanctioned and if so, how do they become sanctioned?
A. Yes! All teams need to be ASA Sanctioned. If you are not a member of this organization please visit the ASA website at www.softball.org to obtain membership information. Look up and get in touch with your local ASA contact by entering your zip code and finding their contact information.
   
Q. What documents are due before my arrival?
A. The following should be completed and returned 30 days prior to arrival, by faxing to Disney Registration at 407-938-3412:
  1.Disney Sports waiver forms (located on the checklist)
  2. Official ASA Roster
   
Q. Is there a limit of coaches and players for each team?
A. Yes! For this event you may have up to 16 Athletes and no more than 4 Non-Players (coaches, scorekeepers, etc.), there are no exceptions. All players must be on the Online Roster for Disney Softball.
   
Q. What information will I need to fill out the Online Roster?
A. You will need to enter the following information for each participant: First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Home Phone Number, and Uniform Number (Uniform numbers must be different. No two players may share the same uniform number).
   
Packages
   
Q. Who exactly needs to purchase the participant packages?
A. All players, coaches and athletic staff traveling with the team are required to purchase a participant package.
  Rooming lists will be cross-checked with the Sports Waiver Forms to verify the total number of
  credentials each team receives.
   
Q. Do you offer any packages for family or fans (spectators)?
A. Yes! Spectator packages are available for anyone traveling to watch and support your team. These packages are the same as the participant package with the addition of admission into the Sports Complex. Please call Disney Sports Travel at 407-939-7810 option #3, for more information.
   
Q. Can my team entry fee go towards the purchase of a package?
A. No! The entry fee secures your team's place in the tournament. It is not a deposit, nor does it go towards any package prices.
   
Q. Can the 2-Day Park Ticket in the package be upgraded to another ticket?
A. Yes it can! Your Disney Sports Travel Agent can explain the options for upgrading and help you choose what best fits your needs during your trip. Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach Water Parks and Disney Quest tickets are also available. All upgrades should be made no later than two weeks prior to your team's arrival.
   
Q. Does the 2-Day Magic Your Way Park Hopper®Ticket need to be used on consecutive days, or can it be spread out over a number of days?
A. The 2-Day Magic Your Way Park Hopper® Ticket does not have to be used consecutively. However, it is valid
   
Q. When is my initial package deposit, remaining balance and rooming list due?
A. It will vary with each team. Please contact your Disney Sports Travel at 407-939-7810 option #3 for specifics.
   
Roster and Rooming List
   
Q. If my team roster hasn't been established, can I add or make corrections to my roster at any time?
A. Yes! You may add or take off players from your rooming list/roster. An updated roster will need to be sent to the Disney Registration team at 407-938-3412. All changes to the rooming list will need to be made with Disney Sports Travel by calling 407-939-7810, Option 3
   
Q. Will parents and other spectators have to purchase admission to Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, even though their team is playing?
A. Yes, all spectators are required to purchase admission into Disney's Wide World of Sports. A length of event admission is included in all spectator packages purchased. Spectators not purchasing the package may purchase individual daily admission at the Disney's Wide World of Sports Box Office upon arrival.
   
Sports Complex
   
Q. Will any vendors have equipment available for purchase at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex?
A. Matty's Ultimate Sports will be onsite during the event and will have an assortment of Baseball/Softball Equipment and Merchandise including bats, batting gloves, fielder's gloves and cleats. If you have any special merchandise requests or team orders please contact Matty's Ultimate Sports in advance at 941-629-8005 or email mattysports@comcast.com
   
Q. Will shower facilities be available for my team at the conclusion of our competition on our final day at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex
A. There are no shower or locker room facilities available at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex. You will need to make prior arrangements with the hotel manager at your hotel before your departure date.
   
Q. Are coolers allowed in at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex?
A. Coolers are allowed in at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex. However, alcoholic beverages and glass containers are not permitted. Concession stands are located at the Softball Diamondplex. (The Cooler Policy is subject to change anytime without notice.)
   
Q. If I play a game in the morning and at night, can I leave my team's equipment in storage at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex
A. No. Due to the number of athletes competing at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex during your visit, there will not be any storage space available. Teams are responsible for watching their own equipment in between competition.
   
Q. What type of equipment will Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex provide?
A. Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex does not provide any equipment. Each team is responsible for providing their own catching gear, gloves, bats, practice ball, helmets etc. Please note there are no shower or storage facilities available. Game balls will be provided.
   
Q. Will a trainer be available at all times for my team?
A. Athletic trainers will be available for pre/post treatment. Taping is free if athletes bring their own tape and pre-wrap. Athletes that did not bring their own taping kit and are seeking preventative taping may purchase a taping kit (one roll each of pre-wrap and tape) for $3.00 at D-Sports between the hours of 10am-5pm. The receipt is taken to the Trainer to receive the kit and to be taped. After hours please bring exact change directly to the Athletic Trainer to receive your kit. Additional rolls of tape may be purchased for $1.50. There is no fee for taping related to injuries sustained during competition, IF the injury has been evaluated and logged at the time it occurred by the Athletic Trainer.
   
Q. Will parents and other spectators have to pay admission into Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex even though their team is playing?
A. Yes. All spectators are required to purchase admission into Disney's Wide World of Sports. A length of event admission is included in all purchased Spectator Packages. Spectators not purchasing a package may purchase individual daily admission to Disney's Wide World of Sports at $12.75 for each adult and $10.00 for each child (ages 3-9). Spectators may instead choose to purchase a length-of-event pass that is valid for admission on all days of the team's stay, available at the Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex Ticket Box Office. It is recommended that spectators purchase their tournament passes during registration to avoid long lines that often occur before the first game. LOE and general admission tickets are non-refundable/non-exchangeable; regardless of number of days your team competes (this includes inclement weather). Please note, length of event tickets are included in packages required for athletes and coaches and available to purchase by family, friends and spectators.
   
Transportation
   
Q. Do I need to arrange transportation while I'm visiting Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex?
A. No, it is not necessary to arrange transportation if you purchase a travel package. Disney's Magical Express is now available. This program provides transportation to and from Orlando International Airport to any Disney Resort. Also available to individuals purchasing the travel package through Disney Sports Travel is transportation to/from the Sports Complex, IF you stay at Disney's All-Star Resort. IF you do not purchase the travel package at Disney's All Star Resort, you will need to arrange for your own transportation to and from the Sports Complex. As always, there are complementary Disney buses available to transport players, coaches and spectators to and from Disney Resorts and between Disney theme park and attractions.
   
Scheduling
   
Q. How many games will my team receive?
A. Every tournament has a minimum game guarantee. Please see the event information for specific details for this event.
   
Q. Will games be held on the first day of the tournament?
A. Yes! A Coaches Meeting and Registration will take place on the morning of the first day of the event. Tournament play will begin shortly following the Coaches Meeting. All teams are encouraged to arrive the night before the event begins.
   
Q. When and how will I be notified of my schedule?
A. First Game Start Times will be posted on our website at www.disneysports.com/fastpitchsoftball, one week prior to the start of the tournament. (Coaches meeting and registration time and place will also be confirmed at that time). Teams will be notified via email when the schedules are posted. Please ensure we have your most current email address.
   
Q. How will inclement weather affect my schedule?
A. Although our fields drain 5-7" of rain per hour, adjustments to the schedules due to rain will be made by the Event Manager on duty. Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex reserves the right to modify and/or cancel daily events. Feel free to call the Softball Tower at 407-939-1557 for updates on game delays and/or schedule changes that might arise during inclement weather. The message will only be updated if changes occur.
   
Q. Can I arrange a team banquet or party on Disney property during our stay?
A. Yes! You may call Rebecca Lewis at 407-939-6049. She will help you arrange a specific function that will meet your team's needs.
   
Q. Can I arrange for a team meal on Disney property during our stay?
A. Yes! You may call 407.WDW.DINE to make a reservation for your team.
   
Q. Can I arrange for a catered team meal at the sports complex during our stay?
A. Yes! Please view the "Dining' tab under the "About Us" for Catering Info and contact Sports Travel for other dining options. Sports Travel can be reached at 407.939.7810 OPTION 3.

Q. Do the division winners receive trophies?
A. Yes, There will be specially designed team and individual Disney awards for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams.

Rules

The following rules are in effect for all Disney Created Fastpitch Softball Tournaments:

  • Tournament will be played under ASA Tournament Rules except where changes are noted.
  • Time Limit: No new inning after 1 hour and 15 min in pool play and 1 hour and 45 min in bracket play games. Championship game ONLY will have no time limit. Time limits can and will be changed if weather becomes an issue.
  • ASA bat & equipment rules will be in effect and umpires will check bats & helmets prior to every game. Helmets will require a NOCSAE symbol, face mask and chin strap.
  • Run rule: 15 after 3 innings, 12 after 4 innings, and 8 after 5 innings will be used for ALL games.
  • Disney (International) tiebreaker in bracket play ONLY: Pool play games may end in a tie. At the time limit of a tied game or at the end of 7 innings or time limit in bracket play, the next inning will start with a runner (ninth scheduled batter for that inning) at 2nd base. The next extra inning will have the runner starting at 3rd base.
  • PROTESTS- There is a $250 PROTEST FEE at Disney. If you want to protest, you must submit $250.00 cash to the Tournament Director. Umpire judgment calls can not be protested. If you win the protest, your fee will be returned, if you loose, the fee will be donated to a local charity of Disney's choice and you will receive a receipt for tax records.
  • Lineups must be turned into the scorekeeper 15 minutes prior to game time. Please communicate all changes during the game to both the plate umpire and the scorekeeper.
  • Dugouts are available on a first come first serve basis. For pool play, the home team will be determined by a coin toss during the pre-game umpire conference. For bracket play, the highest seed will be the home team. If both teams are seeded the same, a coin flip will be used.
  • Advancing from pool to bracket play:
    • win  loss record (2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss)
    • head to head competition
    • least number of runs allowed
    • number of runs scored (forfeits will be recorded as 7-0)
    • run differential
    • coin-toss
    • *Forfeits will be recorded 7-0. Double forfeits will result in a loss of 0-7 for BOTH teams.* Please Note: At NO point in time do you go BACKWARDS up the list of tiebreaker scenarios.
  • The bracket board is the OFFICIAL schedule and will reflect all changes/updates.
  • Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex reserves the right to alter the tournament format, field assignments and/or game times in the event of inclement weather.
  • In the event of inclement weather, please call the Softball Tower at 407/939-1557 for an update.
  • Forfeit Policy: If any team forfeits a game in pool play, they forfeit their right to advance to bracket play. Tournament officials will post the bracket play layout as soon as all teams have participated in their first game. Bracket play will begin Saturday and continue Sunday with the championship games. (The above times are subject to change.)
  • Game Times: All teams should be ready to play at least one half hour prior to the schedule start time. In some instances, some games may be started earlier should field space become available and games run ahead of time.

In addition to the team entry fee, all participants are required to purchase a minimum package in order to participate in this event. Packages start at $315 person. Multiple packages options are available and packages may be customized. The minimum package includes:

  • Minimum 3 nights at a Disney's All Star Sports Resort or a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor®: Hotel
  • Minimum 2-Day Magic Your Way Ticket with Park Hopper® Option which includes admission to one or more of the following theme parks for each day of the Ticket: Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney's Hollywood Studios™ Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park
