DISNEY’S RACE FOR THE TASTE 10K

10K race features:

10K Race Day Parking & Transportation
The 10K will begin at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex promptly at 7:00 a.m.  Transportation will be provided for spectators and participants who wish to park at Epcot® before the race and be bused over to the start at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex. Buses will begin running at 5:15 am from Epcot® and the last bus will leave promptly at 6:15 am.

Limited parking will be available race morning at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex.  If parking at the Complex, be sure to arrive before 6:15 am as road closures will begin.

Buses will be available to transport spectators from Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex to the finish line at Epcot® once the race has begun.

There will also be transportation provided to runners and spectators from the finish at Epcot® back to Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex following the race. 

3K Race Day Parking & Transportation
The 3K will begin at Epcot® promptly at 7:00 a.m.  Please plan to arrive no later than 6:15 a.m. All 3K participants must park at Epcot®.  3K participants should not park at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex.

Race Morning Transportation
10K & 3K participants who stay at the host resorts will be provided with race morning transportation as part of the travel package. There will be no other race morning bus transportation available from the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resorts. To book your room, please see the travel details page.

Baggage Claim  
There will be a baggage drop off location at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex in the Touchdown Parking Lot for 10K participants. A baggage drop off location for 3K participants will be located in the Imagine Parking Lot at Epcot® (near the finish line).
Attach the baggage tear tag on your bib number to your bag when you drop it off at the Baggage Claim area. Your race bib number will be used to verify your bag when you pick it up at the Baggage Claim area.

You must use the clear plastic bag provided to you at Packet Pick Up for your baggage. We will not accept any items that are not in the clear plastic bag you received at Packet Pick Up. Please do not check any valuables. Baggage Claim will be open from 5:30 - 10:30 am.

Bib Numbers 
Each runner will be issued a bib number at Packet Pick-up. It is the responsibility of each runner to wear the bib during the race. If a runner is seen without their bib number while running on the course, they will be removed from the course for security and safety reasons.

A ChronoTrack timing D-tag will be located on the back of the race bib. The disposable D-tag should be peeled off and attached to the runner’s shoe before the race.

Timing & Results
Disney’s Race for the Taste 10K is a timed event.  The 3K is a fun run/walk and will not be timed.

The ChronoTrack timing system will be used for the 10K. A ChronoTrack timing D-tag and instructions will be located on the back of the race bib. The disposable D-tag should be peeled off and attached to the participant’s shoe before the race. For more information about the ChronoTrack timing D-tag, please see the FAQs.

Results will be posted online 24 hours after race conclusion.

If you are picked up and transported to the finish line for any reason you will not receive a finisher’s medal.

Your 10K course meal begins with a ceremonial toast at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex. Make sure you work up a good appetite as you run through the Lights, Motors, Action™ Extreme Stunt Show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™. The 10K course continues past Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort on the way to an exciting finish through the heart of the Epcot® International Food and Wine Festival. Water & Medical Stops
Three water stops will be available on the 10K course. No water stops will be provided on the 3K course.  Medical personnel on bikes will ride along with you during both races. Medical personnel will be stationed at the finish line of the 10K and 3K. 

Course Photographers
ASI Photographers will be on the course and at the finish line taking photos during the race. Remember to keep your race number on the front of your shirt, uncovered and in clear view.

REGISTRATION

What is included in the 10K registration fee?  10K participants will receive a collectible pint glass, personalized bib (if registered before Sept. 15), goody bag, timed race, a finishers' medal, and food samplings from the Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival. 

What is included in the 3K registration fee?  3K participants will receive a collectible pint glass, personalized bib (if registered before Sept. 15), goody bag, a finishers' medallion, and food samplings from the Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival.

Is there a Cast Member, DVC Member, or Annual Passholder discount? Yes! Please contact us at wdw.sports.marathon.endurance@disneysports.com  for details regarding the discount.

How do I know that I'm registered? If you registered online, you will receive a confirmation email from Active.com. This email will serve as your only confirmation of registration. If you cannot find your confirmation email, please visit our website (www.disneyraceforthetaste.com) on the 'Registration' tab is a link called 'Confirmation'.  You can use that link to have another confirmation email sent to you.

Can I get a refund on my race entry or transfer it to next year?  All registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions will be made.

Are there pacing requirements?  Yes.  Each 10K & 3K participant must be able to maintain a 15-minute per mile pace.  If you are unable to maintain the required pace, you will be picked up from the course and transported to the finish line at Epcot®.  Anyone transported to the finish line will not receive the finisher's medal.

Are there any age restrictions?  Yes. Each 10K participant must be at least 11 years old and be able to complete the race on their own. The 3K walk is open to all ages, but participants must be able to complete the walk on their own. The Kids' Races are available for children 1 - 8 years old.

 

PACKET PICK-UP

Do I need to bring anything with me to Packet Pick-up?  You MUST bring your Photo ID with you to Packet Pick-up. If you have your receipt and/or registration confirmation email from Active.com, we recommend that you bring that with you as well.

What are the Packet Pick-up locations and times? Packet Pick-up will take place at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex on Friday, October 9 from 3 - 8 pm and Saturday, October 10 from 12 - 6 pm.  Please refer to the 'Schedule' page on the website for race morning Packet Pick-up times.

What if I can't make it to Packet Pick-up?  Can someone else pick up my packet for me?  Yes.  For someone else to pick up your packet, you will need to provide them with the following documents:
1) Copy of your Photo ID 
2) Signed event waiver (event waiver will be available at www.disneyraceforthetaste.com a few weeks before the event). 
Both items MUST be provided.  No exceptions will be made. 

If I can't attend the race, can my race packet and pint glass be mailed? Unfortunately, we are unable to mail race packets and pint glasses.

Can I bring my stroller to Packet Pick-up?  Yes.  However, strollers are restricted inside both the Josten's Center and the Milkhouse at Disney's Wide World of Sports®. You will need to leave your stroller in the designated Stroller parking areas prior to entering one of these buildings.

EVENT INFORMATION

What time does the 10K race start? The 10K race will begin promptly at 7:00 am on Sunday, October 11 at Disney's Wide World of Sports®. 

What time does the 3K race start? The 3K fun run/walk will begin promptly at 7:00 am on Sunday, October 11 at Epcot®.

What time do I need to be at the start line for the 10K? If you are parking at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex, you will need to arrive before 6:15 am. If parking at Epcot® and taking the event transportation to Disney's Wide World of Sports®, buses will run from 5:15 am - 6:15 am. Road closures begin at 6:15 am. 

What time do I need to be at the start line for the 3K?  Please arrive by 6:15 am at Epcot®.  DO NOT park at Disney's Wide World of Sports®.  Road closures begin at 6:15 am. 

Will the race be timed?  The 10K is a timed race. All participants in the 10K will be timed using the ChronoTrack timing system and the results will be posted online. ChronoTrack timing D-tags will be attached to your race bib and will be distributed at Packet Pick-up. The disposable timing tag peels off the bib and must be attached to your shoe prior to the race. The 3K is a non-timed fun run/walk.

Where can I find more information about ChronoTrack?  For more information on the ChronoTrack timing system, including how to attach the D-tag to your shoe, please visit www.chronotrack.com/for-athletes.

Can I use my Champion Chip?  No. All participants will be timed using the ChronoTrack timing system.

How do I know where to line up at the start line?  For the 10K, there will be pacing signs along the start line chute so you can line up according to your personal pace.  For the 3K, there will not be any pacing signs since this is a fun run/walk.

Can I participate using a wheelchair?  Yes.  If you are participating in the 10K and using a RACING wheelchair, please line up in front of the other participants as you will be starting 2 minutes earlier than the rest of the field.  If participating in the 10K using a NON-RACING wheelchair, please line up with the Walking Division in the back of the start line chute.  If participating in the 3K, wheelchair users should line up in the back of the start line chute.  All participants using wheelchairs must be able to complete the races under their own power.

Is there anything I can't bring on to the course or any restrictions I should know about?  Yes.  For the safety of yourself and the other participants, baby joggers, strollers, baby carriers, baby backpacks, inline skates, motorized scooters, bicycles, skateboards, and animals of any kind are prohibited from the course.  If you are seen in violation of one of these you will be removed from the course and transported to the finish line area.

Are there water stops on the course?  There will be 3 water stops along the 10K course. Please see the Race Course page for water stop locations.  There will be no water stops on the 3K fun run/walk.

Will there be awards?  Yes. There are awards for the 10K award winners. Please see the 'Event Details' page on the website for a full list of the award categories. The overall winners will be based on gun time and the age group winners will be based on ChronoTrack time. Because the 3K is a fun run/walk and is not timed no awards will be given.

Is there an awards ceremony?  Yes, an awards ceremony will take place following the conclusion of the Kids' Races at approximately 9 am for the 10K award winners. The ceremony will take place in the finish line area at Epcot®.

If I can't attend the awards ceremony, will my award be mailed to me?  Yes. If you win one of the awards and are unable to stay for the ceremony your award will be mailed to you following the race.  Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery.

Will there be baggage claim?  Yes. 10K participants can drop their bags at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex prior to the race. The bags will be transported to Epcot® after the race starts. 3K participants can check their bags at Epcot®. Please attach the baggage tear tag on your bib number to your bag. Your race bib number will be used to verify your bag after the race when you pick it up in the Baggage Claim area. Participants must use the clear plastic bag given out at Packet Pick Up for their baggage. We will not accept any baggage that is not in the clear plastic bag. Please do not check any valuables. Baggage Claim will be open from 5:30 - 10:30 am both at Disney's Wide World of Sports and Epcot®.

 

HOTEL & THEME PARK TICKETS

Are there specially priced hotel rooms available for Disney's Race for the Taste 10K & 3K participants?  Yes!  You can call (407) 938-4868 to reserve your room today.  For rates and hotel choices, click on the 'Travel Details' page on the website. Participants staying at one of the host hotels will be provided with race morning transportation.

How long is the theme park ticket I purchased with my registration valid for? The specially priced theme park ticket purchased with registration is valid thru 12/31/09. The Theme Park Ticket entitles you to one day of admission to one of the following theme parks:  Epcot®, Disney's Hollywood Studios™, or Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park.  Some activities/events may be separately priced. Ticket types and entitlements are subject to change without notice. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. Parking is not included. Tickets must be picked up at Packet Pick-up. Tickets not picked up will not be refunded or mailed.

I didn't purchase the specially priced theme park ticket with my registration. Can I add it now? Please contact us at wdw.sports.marathon.endurance@disneysports.com for more information.

Can I purchase additional specially priced theme park tickets?  Yes!  Specially priced one-day and multi-day tickets will be available on the online ticket store.  Once you register for the event you will receive a password in your confirmation email. You will need that password to access the online ticket store. Tickets purchased from the online theme park ticket store are valid for 14-days from the date of first use.  All tickets will expire on December 31, 2009. 

If I can't attend the race can my theme park tickets be mailed to me?  Specially priced theme park tickets purchased with registration can ONLY be picked up at Packet Pick-up. They will not be mailed or refunded.  If you purchase tickets on the online ticket store you will be able to select the delivery method.

I don't have a password or I lost mine.  How do I get another one?  To get another password go to www.disneyraceforthetaste.com, click on the 'Registration' tab on the left, and then click on Confirmation.  Enter the email address that you used to register for the race.  A new registration confirmation will be emailed to you, including the password. 

If I order the theme park ticket through the On-line Ticket Store, how will I receive my tickets?  During your purchase you will be able to select the method of delivery.

 

PARKING & TRANSPORTATION

Will transportation be provided? Race morning transportation will ONLY be provided to those participants who stay at one of the Host Resorts. To see a list of the Host Resorts and rates, click on the 'Travel Details' page. Any participant not staying at one of the Host Resorts will be responsible for their own transportation to the start line.

Where should I park for the 10K? You can park at Epcot® or at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex for the 10K. If you are parking at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex, you will need to arrive before 6:15 am. If parking at Epcot® and taking the event transportation to Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex, buses will run from 5:15 am-6:15 am. 

Where should I park for the 3K? You must park at Epcot® and plan to arrive no later than 6:15 am. DO NOT park at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex for the 3K. Road closures begin at 6:15 am. 

Is there a charge to park?  Parking is free at Disney's Wide World of Sports.  Parking is free at Epcot® PRIOR TO 8 amIf you arrive AFTER 8 am to Epcot®, you will be charged the daily parking fee.

 

POST-RACE PICNIC & PICNIC TICKETS

What is the Post-Race Picnic? For information on the Post-Race Picnic, go to www.disneyraceforthetaste.com, click on the 'Travel Details' tab and then select the 'More Magic' tab.

Where and when is the Post-Race Picnic?  The Post-Race Picnic will take place in the finish line area at Epcot® from 7:30 - 10:30 am.

I forgot to purchase a Post-Race Picnic Ticket for my family when I registered, can I add one now?  Yes.  To purchase tickets online, go to www.disneyraceforthetaste.com, click on the 'Travel Details' tab and then select the 'More Magic' tab.  Picnic Tickets may be available for purchase at Packet Pick-up, however, availability is not guaranteed. Picnic tickets will NOT be available for purchase on race morning.  Picnic tickets can be picked up during Packet Pick-up on Friday or Saturday and also at the Post-Race Picnic at Epcot®. Picnic Tickets are non-refundable.

I am unable to attend the Post-Race Picnic. Can I get a refund or transfer my ticket to next year?  Unfortunately, all Picnic Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions will be made.

What Taste Stations will be available at the Post-Race Picnic? Taste stations from the Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival will be available at the Post-Race Picnic. Taste Stations will be determined closer to the event and will be included in the Final Race Instructions.

Can I use my taste station voucher inside Epcot®?  No. The vouchers are only valid at the Taste Stations at the Post-Race Picnic following Disney's Race for the Taste 10K & 3K.  Your voucher is not valid inside Epcot®.

 

COMMEMORATIVE ITEMS & PHOTOS

I didn't purchase the Commemorative Pin during registration. Can I add it now? Yes, you can still purchase the Commemorative Pin after you have registered for the event. The link to purchase the pin is located under the 'Commemorative Items' tab on the website..  Please note that pins will only be distributed at Packet Pick-up and will not be mailed or refunded if not picked up.

If I can't attend the race, can my pin be mailed to me?  The commemorative pin can only be picked up at Packet Pick-up. Pins will not be mailed or refunded.

How do I find my race photos after the race?  To view your race photos, please visit www.asiorders.com . Race photos are typically posted one week after the race. You will need your bib number to access your photos.

 

SPECTATORS

Can my friends and family watch me during the race?  Spectators are encouraged to view the 10K start at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex or at the finish line at Epcot®.  3K spectators are encouraged to view the start and finish at Epcot®.  There will be no viewing areas along either of the courses or inside the theme parks.  Parking is FREE at Disney's Wide World of Sports.  Parking is FREE at Epcot® PRIOR TO 8 amIf you arrive AFTER 8 am to Epcot®, you will be charged the daily parking fee.

 

KIDS RACES

Are there kid's races?  Yes. The Kids' Races will follow the conclusion of the 10K at approximately 8:45 am at Epcot®

What ages can participate in the kids races?  Kids ages 1 - 8 years old can participate.

What is included in the Kids' Races registration fee? Registration for each child includes: Kids' Race t-shirt, goody bag, race bib, and Disney's Kids' Races finishers' medallion. Kids' Race registration does not include a Picnic Ticket.   

What are the distances?  Distances vary by age. 
100 meters: 1-3 years old
200 meters: 4-6 years old
400 meters: 7-8 years old

Where do the Kids' Races start and finish? The Kids' Races will take place at Epcot® in the finish line chute for the 10K and 3K. More detailed instructions will be provided in the Final Race Instructions that you will receive when you pick up the race packet.

Can I register my child race morning?  The Kids' Races are subject to capacity limits and all parents are encouraged to register their kids online by Sunday, October 4. (Most of Disney's Kids' Races have been reaching capacity prior to the event weekend.) To register for the Kids' Races please go to the 'Registration' page at www.disneyraceforthetaste.com

Can I run with my child?  Yes.  Parents are encouraged to run with their children.

 

RACE BENEFICIARY

Who is the beneficiary for Disney's Race for the Taste?  The Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is the event beneficiary.

How can I help this worthy cause?  In conjunction with Disney's Race for the Taste, a canned food drive will be held to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Please bring your non-perishable food items to Packet Pick-up on either Friday or Saturday OR to either the start or finish lines on Sunday and place them in the food bins.

FALL RACE CHALLENGE COMMEMORATIVE BONUS MEDAL

How do I earn the commemorative Fall Race Challenge bonus medal? Complete both Disney's Race for the Taste 10K and EITHER the Expedition Everest™ Challenge OR The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 13K in the SAME calendar year and you will earn the commemorative bonus medal.

What if I am registered for Disney's Race for the Taste 3K or The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 5K? Can I get the bonus medal?  No. The only combinations of eligible races are listed in the question above.

Do I need to sign up for the Fall Race Challenge?  No. You are automatically entered into the Fall Race Challenge when you register and complete either combination of races.

How do I get my bonus medal?  Bonus medals will be distributed in the finish area of Disney's Race for the Taste 10K and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 13K™. More information will be provided in the Final Race Instructions for each event.

 

CHILD CARE SERVICES

What if I need child care services during my stay at the Walt Disney World Resort?  Together with independent childcare provider Kids Nite Out, the hotels at the Walt Disney World® Resort offer you the convenience of expert, one-to-one in-room babysitting for an additional cost. You can even reserve a childcare specialist to accompany you and your family during your visit to the Parks, providing a helping hand where needed. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

ASI Photographers
ASI photographers will be on the course and at the finish line taking your picture during the race. You can also look for them at the Post-Race Picnic for group and family photos!  Remember to keep your race number uncovered and in clear view. Race photos will be posted a few days following the event. ASI will email you your photograph proofs or you can visit www.asiorders.com after the race to view your race photos.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, nonprofit organization that collects and distributes donated food to more than 500 nonprofit partner agencies in six Central Florida counties.  For more information on The Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, please visit their website at www.foodbankcentralflorida.org.

A canned food drive will be held during Disney’s Race for the Taste 10K & 3K to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.  Please refer to the ‘Schedule’ page for collection points and drop off times.
