REGISTER FOR DISNEY'S LAST CHANCE CHALLENGE

30 DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL
USSSA Roster. In order to participate an official USSSA roster must be signed by each player and faxed in to 407.938.3412. The official roster can be found at www.usssa.com.

Waivers MUST be completed by all athletes/coaches and faxed to 407-938-3412. In order to be on the field of play in this event, all athletes and coaches arerequired to complete a waiver form. Please follow the following process:
  • Before distributing these forms, the coach should print the Team/School Name & Division in the "Event Information" section on the form.
  • Photocopy the number of forms you require.
  • There is no limit to the number of athletes and coaches you wish to bring, but all are required to purchase a participant package.
  • All minors (under age 18) must have a parent or legal guardian sign the "Release and Indemnity: section.
  • The Coach is responsible for photocopying, distributing, collecting, and returning all waivers.
  • All waivers PDF  are due 30 days prior to arrival and can be faxed to 407-938-3412.

Disney's Last Chance Challenge

Rules

The following rules will be in effect for Disney's Last Chance Challenge. All players and Managers/Coaches shall be subject to the UNITED STATES SPECIALTY SPORTS ASSOCIATION (USSSA) SOFTBALL Rulebook unless indicated below. Each Manager/Coach is responsible for informing his/her players of all rules.

Player Eligibility: Illegal Players: Anytime during a tournament game or after, or after the completion of a tournament, if an ineligible player is discovered, up to one year from the tournament date, penalties may be applied as described in the USSSA Constitution, By-Laws and Rule Book (Article III - Sec 10).

Players Eligibility: According to the Official USSSA Slowpitch Rule Book:

Rule 13, Sec 1 - Men's B, C, D, and E Programs
A. Only one Major player from the Major Player's List will be allowed on a Men's Class B Team Roster.
B. Any Player whose name appears on a Major Player's List shall not be allowed to play at the Men's Class C, D, or E Level.
C. Any Player whose name appears on the USSSA Watch List shall not be allowed to play at the Men's Class C, D, or E Level.

All Players and Coaches must have a photo ID on their persons at all times on them during the tournament.
Team Eligibility: Official Team Roster - In order to participate in this tournament an Official USSSA Roster should be completed online at www.USSSA.com and a signed copy should be received by Disney Sports no later than 14 Days Prior to the Start of the Tournament. Sanctioning - The United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) sanctions this tournament. In order to participate, your team is required to be a member of the USSSA. If you are not a member of this organization please call 1-800-741-3014 or log onto www.USSSA.com to locate your State Director in order to have your team sanctioned. Please be prepared to show your sanctioning card at registration.

If you are unable to provide proof of USSSA Membership upon arrival, you will be required to pay the USSSA Membership Fee at Team Check-in. Any Team unable to comply with this requirement will not be allowed to participate in the tournament.
Pre-Game Procedure: Before going onto the playing field, each player, coach, and/or bat boy/girl must sign a Disney Sports Waiver Form. There are No Exceptions.
• Competitors should be at the competition field at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their game.
• Manager/Coach will meet on the field for the coin-toss for home team.
• Lineups are to be turned into the scorekeeper 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the game.
• Line-up cards must contain every player and substitute's first and last name, uniform number, and position. Nicknames are not allowed on line-ups cards.
• There will be no infield/outfield practice between games.
• Each game will be assigned two umpires.
• Please note, only athletes and coaches (no children or spectators) that have signed the Disney Waiver will be allowed on the "field of play" (dugouts, field, bullpens, etc). Due to safety reasons, there are no exceptions.
Protests: A Protested game can result when there is a difference of opinion on the field between the protesting team and the Umpire regarding the application or interpretation of either the Official Printed Playing Rules, or specially adopted playing rules.
• In order for a team to protest they must have a protest fee of $250 cash available to hand over at the time of the protest to the Tournament Director.
• If the protesting team wins the protest, the cash will be returned to them
• If the protesting team loses the protest, Disney will donate the cash to a Disney approved charity
Weather: The following weather related protocols will be observed:
• In the case of lightning or severe rain, all competition will be halted and all guests will be asked to report to the Milkhouse or Baseball Stadium. The competition will resume when the weather clears, or be postponed to the following day (in the case of severe weather).
• In the case of light rain, competition will continue until safety becomes an issue.
In the event unusual conditions necessitate the rescheduling, curtailment or cancellation of games for the safety of participants, the Tournament Director shall have absolute authority to make changes in order to best serve the interests of the Tournament. In case of extreme weather, the umpire, Tournament Director or Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex representative shall determine if and when play shall cease, resume or be rescheduled.
Detailed instructions will be disseminated at the coaches meeting describing how and where the most current tournament schedule may be obtained. It is the total and entire responsibility of each manager/coach to obtain the latest schedule information.
RAIN DAY INFORMATION CAN BE OBTAINED BY CALLING: 407- 939-1557.
Each manager/coach will need to provide contact information (i.e. contact name, hotel name, hotel phone, room number, cell phone etc.) at registration on the first day of the tournament.

Uniforms: All competitors are required to have matching shirts with each individual having a different number on their back. (No duplicate numbers allowed for any division, including Coed). Hats are optional.
Bats: Only USSSA Approved Bats will be allowed. For specifics on the USSSA approved bats, visit www.USSSA.com.
Altered Bats will not be tolerated.
• An Altered Bat is one in which the physical structure of a legal softball bat has been changed. Inserting materials inside the bat, changing/replacing manufacturer's markings or replacing the handle of a metal bat with a wooden handle are examples of an altered bat. Replacing the safety grip with another safety grip is not considered altering the bat.
• If a bat is protested as being altered during a game, all Official USSSA Rules will be followed According to the 2009 USSSA Slowpitch Rule Book, Rule 2 Section 2, E.
Time Limits: Games will have a time limit of NO NEW INNINGS after one hour and fifteen minutes. Also, to keep the games running on time, if a team is not ready to play at their scheduled start time, a forfeit will be implemented. Teams will be given a ten (10) minute grace period for the first scheduled game of the tournament only.
Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex reserves the right to alter the tournament format, field assignments, and/or game times at any time.
Men's B/C/D/E - 25 runs after 3 innings, 20 runs after 4 innings, 15 runs after 5 innings
Women's C & D - 10 runs after 5 innings
Men's Class B/C - 3 Home Runs Permitted
Men's Class D - 0 Home Runs Permitted
Men's Class E - 0 Home Runs Permitted--(A Homerun results in an offensive ejection)
Women's Class C - 3 Home Runs Permitted
Women's Class D - 0 Homeruns Permitted
All fair untouched fly balls over the fence in excess of the limit will be ruled an out. (Rule 4, Sec 8)
ALCOHOL: Alcoholic beverages of any kind are not permitted in the dugout or field of play at anytime. Disney reserves the right to discontinue the sales of alcohol at any time!
SMOKING: There are designated smoking areas next to the restrooms at each venue. Please note, smoking is NOT permitted in the dugouts/bleachers or other spectator areas
LANGUAGE: Vulgar language is not permitted nor will it be tolerated. All coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players on and off the field. Disney's Wide World of Sports has the right to remove any player or coach from the event if any behavior has been deemed in appropriate.
PHOTO ID: All players must carry a photo ID at all times during the event.

Q. What do I need to do to reserve my team's spot in the tournament?
A. All teams must submit an application and $400 team entry fee to reserve their team's spot in the tournament. Register your team early. Space is limited and acceptance to any event is based upon availability. NO SPOT IS GUARANTEED UNTIL THE TEAM ENTRY FEE IS RECEIVED AND THE APPLICATION IS ACCEPTED. TOURNAMENTS MAY FILL UP BEFORE THE ENTRY DEADLINE.
   
Q. Can I pay the entry fee by check?
A. Yes! Teams can pay by check. Teams can select the option when they apply online to have an invoice emailed to them. All they have to do is print out the invoice and mail it in along with the check for the entry fee. All checks should be made payable to Disney Destinations.

Q. What rules do you play by for this tournament?
A. USSSA Rules will apply. Please see the event sanctioning for rules reference.
   
Q. Does my team need to be registered with the ASA or USSSA (dependent upon event sanctioning) and if so, how do they become sanctioned?
A. Yes! All teams need to be registered. For USSSA events, please call 1-800-741-3014 or log onto www.usssa.com to obtain membership information. Please be prepared to show your sanction card at registration.
   
Q. What documents are due before my arrival?
A. The following MUST be completed and returned 30-days prior to arrival:

Q. Who do I need to submit Disney Sports Waivers for?
A. Waivers need to be submitted for ALL participants, including both players and coaches. Fax to 407-938-3412.
   
Q. Is there a limit of coaches and players for each team?
A. Yes! For this event you may have up to 20 Athletes and no more than 2 Non-Players (coaches, scorekeepers, etc.), there are no exceptions.
   
Transportation
   
Q. Do I need to arrange transportation while I'm visiting Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex?
A. Yes! It is highly recommended that you make ground transportation arrangements. Please note that transportation is not provided from your hotel to the Sports Complex or any off-site venue. Your team will need reliable transportation to and from the airport, Softball Quadraplex, dining, and theme parks. Complimentary buses are available to transport players and spectators from theme park to theme park if you are staying in a Walt Disney World® Resort.

Q. Are there any special deals available for hotel accommodations?
A. Yes, there are discounts rates available at certain Walt Disney World Resorts® and Walt Disney World Resort® Good Neighbor Hotels. To make arrangements at one of the hotels, please call the hotel directly and mention that you are a participating team at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex. Q. Are there specially priced theme park tickets available for purchase?
A. Yes, specially priced theme park tickets will be made available to participants and guests once the team has been accepted to the tournament and the entry fee has been paid. Visit Travel Details  Theme Park Tickets for more information.
   
Q. Can my team entry fee go towards the purchase of a package?
A. No! The entry fee secures your team's place in the tournament. It is not a deposit, nor does it go towards any package prices.
   
Q. Can I take advantage of the specially priced theme park tickets once I arrive?
A. No. To take advantage of the specially priced theme park tickets, you must purchase them 14-days prior to your departure to Orlando. Specially priced tickets are not available at the gate. Your Sports Sales Manager/Coordinator will be able to explain and help you choose which ticket best fits your needs while visiting the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort.
   
Q. How will I purchase the specially priced theme park tickets?
A. Each coach/team contact will receive a "Ticket Kit" in the mail that contains pricing and information on how to order the theme park tickets. You will be able to order the theme park tickets in one of the following ways:
PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS ON-LINE - If you are purchasing 9 or fewer theme park tickets, you may buy them on-line by visiting: www.disneyslowpitch.com (A password is required to enter the site and will be provided by the Disney Softball Staff once the team has been accepted and paid the $400 team entry fee).
PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS VIA PHONE  Call 407-938-3801 to speak to a member of the Disney Softball Staff.
PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS VIA FAX OR MAIL  Order forms contained in the Ticket Kit may be distributed to and orders may be faxed to 407-938-3412.
   
Q.. Can family, friends, and spectators purchase the specially priced tickets for the Theme Parks?
A. Yes! Specially priced theme park tickets are available for family, friends, and spectators by calling 407-938-3801. Please note, all tickets must be purchased 14-days prior to your departure and there are even greater specials for group orders of 10 or more tickets.
Q.. Do my theme park tickets need to be used consecutively, or can they be spread out over a number of days?
A. No, they do not have to be used consecutively; however the tickets are only valid for a limited period of time before and/or after your event.
   
Scheduling
   
Q. How many games will my team receive?
A. This tournament has a minimum three game guarantee.
   
Q. Will games be held on the first day of the tournament?
A. Yes!! All teams should be prepared to begin play as early as 8:30 a.m. on the first day of the tournament. (Please see "Cancellation Policy" if your team is unable to meet this time frame). A Coaches Meeting and Registration will take place on the morning of the first day of the event. Tournament play will begin shortly following the Coaches Meeting. All teams are encouraged to arrive the night before the event begins.
   
Q. When and how will I be notified of my schedule?
A. First Game Start Times will be posted on our website at www.disneyslowpitch.com, one week prior to the start of the tournament. (Coaches meeting and registration time and place will also be confirmed at that time). Teams will be notified via email when the schedules are posted. Please ensure we have your most current email address.
   
Q. How will inclement weather affect my schedule?
A. Although our fields drain 5-7" of rain per hour, adjustments to the schedules due to rain will be made by the Event Manager on duty. Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex reserves the right to modify and/or cancel daily events. Feel free to call the Softball Tower at 407-939-1557 for updates on game delays and/or schedule changes that might arise during inclement weather. The message will only be updated if changes occur.
   
Sports Complex
   
Q. Will shower facilities be available for my team at the conclusion of our competition on our final day at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex
A. There are no shower or locker room facilities available at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex. You will need to make prior arrangements with the hotel manager at your hotel before your departure date.
   
Q. If I play a game in the morning and at night, can I leave my team's equipment in storage at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex
A. No. Due to the number of athletes competing at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex during your visit, there will not be any storage space available. Teams are responsible for watching their own equipment in between competition.
   
Q. What type of equipment will Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex provide?
A. Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex does not provide any equipment. Each team is responsible for providing their own catching gear, gloves, bats, practice ball, helmets etc. Please note there are no shower or storage facilities available. Game balls will be provided.
   
Q. Are coolers allowed in at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex?
A. Coolers are allowed in at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex. However, alcoholic beverages and glass containers are not permitted. Concession stands are located at the Softball Diamondplex. (The Cooler Policy is subject to change anytime without notice.)
   
Q. Will a trainer be available at all times for my team?
A. Athletic trainers will be available for pre/post treatment. Taping is free if athletes bring their own tape and pre-wrap. Athletes that did not bring their own taping kit and are seeking preventative taping may purchase a taping kit (one roll each of pre-wrap and tape) for $3.00 at D-Sports between the hours of 10am-5pm. The receipt is taken to the Trainer to receive the kit and to be taped. After hours please bring exact change directly to the Athletic Trainer to receive your kit. Additional rolls of tape may be purchased for $1.50. There is no fee for taping related to injuries sustained during competition, IF the injury has been evaluated and logged at the time it occurred by the Athletic Trainer.
   
Q. Will parents and other spectators have to pay admission into Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex even though their team is playing?
A. Yes. All spectators are required to purchase admission into Disney's Wide World of Sports. A length of event admission is included in all purchased Spectator Packages. Spectators not purchasing a package may purchase individual daily admission to Disney's Wide World of Sports at $12.75 for each adult and $10.00 for each child (ages 3-9). Spectators may instead choose to purchase a length-of-event pass that is valid for admission on all days of the team's stay, available at the Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex Ticket Box Office. It is recommended that spectators purchase their tournament passes during registration to avoid long lines that often occur before the first game. LOE and general admission tickets are non-refundable/non-exchangeable; regardless of number of days your team competes (this includes inclement weather). All prices and policies are subject to change without notice.

Q. Can I arrange for a private team banquet or party on Disney property during our stay?
A. Yes! You may call Rebecca Lewis at 407-939-6049. She will help you arrange a specific function that will meet your team's needs.
   
Q. Can I arrange for a team meal on Disney property during our stay?
A. Yes! You may call 407.WDW.DINE to make a reservation for your team.
   
Q. Can I arrange for a catered team meal at the sports complex during our stay?
A. Yes! Please view the "Dining" tab under the "About Us" for more information.
   
Awards
   
Q. Do the division winners receive trophies?
A. Yes, There will be specially designed team and individual Disney awards for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams. In addition, Disney will also present a MVP award for each game to the winning team. This award will be given to the head coach and he/she will present to the player of his/her choice.

Spectator admission is required for all tournament games at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex. Length-of-Event tournament passes (LOE) allow for admission to all days of the tournament.
